Mantilla Doily

I just started working on this doily today.  I'm doing it in size 30 white crochet thread with a size 1.00mm(0) steel hook.  It's going to be dainty and lacey. :-)  As with all of my projects, I'll post a picture of it once it's done.

I'm going to be talking to a lady who owns a consignment store down the road from me about renting some space from her for my things.  I'd like to start trying to sell what I make to earn some extra money.  I've created around a dozen things so far to sell, and I have a display unit to put them all on.  I'm in the process of making more things to help keep my inventory up once I do start selling things.  I have quite a few pieces of jewelry to sell as well.

Speaking of jewelry, I'm once again working on my friend, Holly's, gothic style choker.  I couldn't find the wolf heads I wanted for the piece so we discussed alternatives.  She decided on some gothic style crosses which I have attached to the choker already.  I'm going tomorrow to get some drops and a length of silver chain to finish the piece.  I'll post a picture of the finished piece once it's done.

Tiny Tulips and Baby

As promised, here are the pictures of the baby items I made from the Bernat Baby Sport yarn in Tiny Tulips.

This first picture is of a baby hat made with an "H" hook and a few ounces of the yarn:

Tres cute, non? :-)

The next two pictures are of baby booties also made with the "H" hook:

I think next time, I'll use a darker solid color for the ties.

The next two pictures are of the baby blanket I made.  It's 38 inches square and made with a "G" hook.  One is of the blanket hanging from a headboard and the other is a close up of the stitch I used which is the Box Stitch.

I had fun making these things. :-)

I have a gift bag and a headband I also made from this same yarn, but they're not completely done yet so I'm not posting any pictures of them here yet.

One Project Becomes Many

I had bought an 8.5 ounce skein of Bernat Baby Sport yarn in Tiny Tulips with the intent of making a baby blanket - my last post was about this intended project in fact.  I had to buy a second skein to finish the baby blanket and then, I was left with most of this second skein.  I was so in love with the color I decided to make more baby things.  By the time I lifted myself out of the fog that was Tiny Tulips yarn, I had made a pair of baby booties, two baby hats and an adult size head band that now needs a flower added to it to complete it.

Where are the pictures of these lovely, cutesie things I have wrought with my two hands and a couple of crochet hooks?  I haven't taken any yet - :-)  That is on tomorrow's agenda.  Oh yes, I almost forgot, I also made a gift bag. I need a length of ribbon to complete it.

So anyhoo, tomorrow will be picture day, and you'll get to see what I made when I was lost in the Tiny Tulip fog. :-D

Just Had To!

I went to Wal-Mart today with the purpose of getting more cotton crochet thread for the tote bag I'm making, and I just had to get something else instead! That something else was a one pound skein of Bernat Baby Sport yarn called Tiny Tulips.  The colors of this yarn are so pretty I couldn't resist!!

I took it home and decided since the yarn was so thin, I'd use the box stitch and a G hook to create the baby blanket.  I plan to make it 38 inches square and then put a border of two rows of single crochet around it.  If anyone has a better idea for the edging, please let me know. :-)

I've already begun the piece and have 15 inches already done so by tomorrow evening I should have a pic of the completed piece posted. :-)

Catching Up-Again

I just got back online after moving from a small efficiency place to a two bedroom apartment. My youngest son came to live with me right before the Christmas holidays this past year so, I needed more space for both of us.  He's 18 now, he was 17 at the time.  He needs his privacy as much as I do.

Now, I'm back on, and I'll be able to post on a more regular basis now. :-)

What have I been up to since I've been offline?  I made five baby blankets for various co workers for their babies. One was a premie so I had to be quite selective on the yarn I used.

I'm going to list my current projects and post pics of them as I finish them so you can see what I'm doing.

Tote bag - using Sugar N Cream cotton crochet thread in yellow.
Afghan - using off brand from Big Lots in pewter blue
Mixed media Necklace - lots of different beads in different dark hues
Blanket - Homespun in Lagoon
Gothic style Choker - mixed media with this one too.

I'll post pictures of some things I've finished already in the next few days as well. :-)

New choker

I am working on a new choker.  It's not a custom made one, but it is a one of a kind.  It's black velvet of course.  I'm adding a pretty crocheted border to it right now.  It's going to have a black and gold snake pendant on it with some gold chain, and I'm still working out the rest.  I'll be posting a picture of it soon, once it has more done to it.

I'm adding more pictures to Artfire.com as soon as I do some tweaking to the photos I took.  I still have plenty of product left so get yours while you can. :-)

More jewelry made

I had only planned on finishing one necklace today, and I ended up making a necklace and matching earrings.  I'll be taking pictures of them tomorrow to post here and on artfire.com where I'll be selling them separately.  I'm still working on my woven beaded necklace.  I ran into a small snag with one of the bead choices I made, but I'm now back on track, so the entire piece will be done by tomorrow evening.
